講   題:Sensing Object Semantics for Multimedia Applications

演講大綱:

As mobile devices have become one of the primary ways we connect with the world around us, to efficiently recognize various visual objects in the real-world scenes has become one key technique for enabling advanced mobile multimedia applications. However, since the visual objects in mobile photos are usually captured in uncontrolled conditions, such as various viewpoints, positions, scales, and background clutter, in this talk, we will present a mobile sensing framework for giving robust real-scene object recognition and localization. By exploiting advanced learning techniques, the proposed framework is not only able to locate the visual objects precisely but can also achieve real-time performances. The experimental results showed that the proposed framework outperforms the state-of-the-art methods on public real-scene images data sets. Further, to demonstrate its effectiveness for practical applications, the proposed framework was implemented on the Android mobile platform as a prototype system for sensing various business signs on the street and instantly retrieving the relevant information on the screen.
