Abstract
Phased array technologies have evolved into a stage where many applications can be fulfilled using hardware with much lower cost, smaller size, and higher portability. This would enable various exciting applications such as UAV shipping, real-time satellite imaging, and self-driving cars, in the few years to come. In this talk, progresses in various phased-array-based applications in Tron Future Tech will be introduced, including portable drone surveillance radars, satellite imaging radar, satellite communication with automobiles, and their potential of enabling the aforementioned applications in smart cities will be explained. However, these developments and prospects also raise many challenges in the discipline of computer science. For example, with a large volume of data generated from the advanced sensors on the ground and in the space, how would these data be processed, managed, stored, transmitted, appropriately to meet market needs. Potential challenges are highly desirable to be addressed for the realization of a 2030 vision and further developments.

Speaker Bio
Dr. Wang received B.S. degree in E.E. from National Taiwan University, and MS/Ph.D. degree also in E.E. from California Institute of Technology. He was Professor in Electronics Engineer Department in National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) from 2009-2018. Dr. Wang left NCTU in Feb. 2019 and become the chairman and C.E.O. of Tron Future Tech Inc., headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan.

Borching Su received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Pasadena, CA, USA, in 2008. Dr. Su received Charles H. Wilts Prize from Caltech for his Ph.D. thesis. In 2021, Dr. Su joined Tron Future Tech Inc., Hsinchu, Taiwan, where he participates in the developments and designs of the company’s phased-array products in radar and communication applications.

Dr. Chun-Yu Chai received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan, in 2021. He is currently a software engineer of Tron Future Tech Inc, Hsinchu, Taiwan.
