講   題:Ordinal Hyperplanes Ranker with Cost Sensitivities for Age Estimation

演講大綱:
In this talk, I introduce an ordinal hyperplane ranking algorithm called OHRank, which estimates human ages via facial images. The design of the algorithm is based on the relative order information among the age labels in a dataset. Each ordinal hyperplane separates all the facial images into two groups according to the relative order, and a cost-sensitive property is exploited to find better hyperplanes based on the classification costs. Human ages

are inferred by aggregating a set of preferences from the ordinal hyperplanes with their cost sensitivities. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms conventional multiclass-based and regression-based approaches as well as recently developed ranking-based age estimation approaches.

演講者經歷:
Chu-Song Chen received a B.S. degree in Control Engineering from National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan, in 1989. He received an M.S. degree in 1991 and a Ph.D. degree in 1996, respectively, both from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Taiwan University. He is now a deputy director of Research Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI), Academia Sinica, and a research fellow of Institute of Information Science (IIS), Academia Sinica, Taiwan. He is also an adjunct professor of the Graduate Institute of Networking and Multimedia, National Taiwan University. Dr. Chen’s research interests include pattern recognition, computer vision, signal/image processing, and multimedia analysis.
