演講摘要Abstract:

In Internet of Things (IoT), with the help of wireless and Internet technologies, machines are connected to the IoT server to perform collaborative tasks with little or even no human intervention. A machine possesses the “intelligence” (provided by the IoT server or by itself) to cooperate with other machines and execute all kinds of IoT applications. Machine to Machine (M2M) communications (also known as Machine Type Communications; MTC) has prompted a wide range of applications, such as smart metering, healthcare monitoring, fleet management and tracking, remote security sensing, or industrial automation. Basically the application scenarios in M2M mobile networks is often divided into three categories, including “surveillance systems and environmental monitoring,” “remote maintenance and control,” and “Intelligent Transportation Service (ITS).” In this talk, I would like to share the following topics, including the current status for MTC by the 3GPP working groups, the features of MTC communications, and research directions in MTC.
