Since September 2017 Josef Goldberger heads the DAAD Information Centre in Taipei.

Prior to this position, he worked as Regional Coordinator for Institutional Cooperations (Asia and Australia) at the International Office at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin.

Before coming to Berlin in the end of 2014, Josef Goldberger lived and worked in the PR China for more than 12 years. He was lecturing in various teaching positions at Tsinghua University, Peking University, Qiqihar University and Renmin University. He also headed the marketing team at the Beijing branch-office of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) between 2009 and 2012, and worked as a project-manager for Goethe Institute in 2008.

Josef Goldberger did his Ph.D. in Educational Studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. His research topic is “The Internationalization of Chinese Higher Education”.

He also studied Sinology, German Studies and Comparative Literature in Vienna and Beijing.
