演講題目: Democratize the access to scholarly knowledge with machine intelligence

演講摘要:  Our civilization is a result of a unique human capability to document the knowledge we have acquired in a life time and pass on to the future generations to iteratively build upon. Thanks to the dramatic improvements in computing infrastructure and machine intelligence, we are witnessing an unprecedented revolution in how the knowledge is discovered, accumulated and disseminated. In this talk, I will describe a Microsoft Research project, called Microsoft Academic, in which we deploy intelligent agents to read more than two centuries of scholarly communications discoverable from the web to continuously grow an automatically curated knowledge base. We will describe how it can accessed, what we have learned from the massive knowledge base, show some examples from our external partners, and invite discussion on its impacts to science of science and society in general.
