主題:Big Data Analytics: A New Frontier to Explore

演講摘要:

Big data analytics is a significant research area in the "big data" era.  Big Data is characterized by 4 Vs: volume, variety, velocity, and veracity, which posts enormous challenges in modeling, processing, and analyzing the massively available data in order to generate value.  In this talk, I will present our most recent achievements in Big Data analytics to attack the value-seeking research challenges. To address the volume issue, we investigated and designed distributed machine learning platforms. To address the variety issue, we extended learning techniques in recommendation systems with a wide range of applications. To address the velocity issue, we proposed several online learning algorithms. To address the veracity issue, we formulated a methodology for feature extraction.  In exploring a new frontier of software engineering, I will further describe how systematic learning techniques can be employed to accomplish effective logging disciplines, demonstrating the value of Big Data analytics in developing reliable software (including AI) systems.
