Abstract:

Over the past few years deep learning have shown astonishing breakthrough in various fields, including image recognition, speech recognition, and natural language processing. Not only this rapid growth have enlightened related research area, the development also allow many new technologies to emerge around us. The first part of this talk will introduce the basic knowledge of deep learning, providing the required background for designing deep learning models, and will then talk about the recent progress, giving examples of successful applications to enumerate fields that have known to work well with deep learning. The second part of the talk will introduce TensorFlow, Google’s next generation deep learning system, which has been open-sourced. This part of the talk will give an overview about TensorFlow, describing its architecture and core components.

Biography:

Chung-Cheng Chiu is a software engineer at Google Brain team. He completed his PhD in 2014 at University of Southern California, and has since joined Google Brain team. His recent work at Google focuses on designing neural network algorithms and building distributed computation systems for solving Google-scale problems.
