Cyber Data Analytics in the Battle for Democracy

  1. Abstract:

The rapid development of science and technology has brought tremendous benefits to the progress of human civilization, but weapons have also become more lethal and destructive. Coordinated campaigns by state-sponsored trolls maliciously manipulate public opinion with deepfakes and disinformation on social media and offensively interfere in the democratic processes of other countries. As we are witnessing the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we are at a crossroads in human history. It is a critical time to develop advanced civil technologies to protect freedom and human rights. In this talk, I will discuss cyberspace challenges in this disruptive era, and introduce the ongoing projects at the Cyber Data Analytics Lab, Cybersecurity Center of Excellence.
