Allan earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1983, and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Yale University in 1992. Before joining Advantech, Allan worked as Research Associate at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, as Senior Associate at Prudential Securities, as Manager of Portfolio Systems at Tiger Management LLC, as CTO and then as President at AVerMedia Technologies. Allan joined Advantech in 2014 and serves as CTO.

Abstract

The "Internet of things" (IoT) is “The Next Big Thing” not only in technologies but in breakthroughs for business models. As a company dedicated in Industrial IoT solutions, Advantech defines our brand mission as "Enabling an Intelligent Planet" by empowering customers with solution modules designed for digital transformation. Advantech has established an industrial IoT cloud platform, WISE-PaaS, as the infrastructure for data acquisition and analytics, In this talk, we will present an overview of Advantech IoT Architecture, covering data acquisition at the edge, an industrial PaaS as the data infrastructure, and up to domain cloud solutions. We will also present a collection of industrial IoT solutions as reference examples.
